10 years ago Julian sought to nurture next-gen technologies into EMEA, resulting in the forming of New Rylands. Shortly after starting up, Julian was joined by Taz Gill as technical director. Combined they’ve worked with, or for, all major UK telecom brands, network providers and IT organisations - bringing these connections and expertise to your project.

Julian
Welch
Managing Director
Julian has over 30 years of experience in telecommunications across EMEA with the major fixed and mobile network providers and has a proven track record of introducing new technology as products and combined solutions, leveraging his extensive network.
He started his career within the British Army singulars regiment (the Army’s comms regiment), specialising in secure telecommunications. Through his service, and senior technical roles at Spider Networks, Shiva and Arrowpoint Communications, he has worked on technology that covers the whole gamut of the OSI model.
Following a successful technical application career, Julian transitioned into a commercial role, working as VP EMEA for brands such as NextPoint Networks, Bridgewater Systems, Amdocs, Cenex and now Voltserver and EasyStreet Systems.
In recent years he’s focused New Rylands Ltd on deploying solutions for 4G/5G networks, private wireless networks and small cell infrastructures and Fixed Wireless Access technologies.

Taz has a wealth of theoretical, technical, and hands-on practical telecommunications experience accumulated over 20 years in a range of engineering disciplines - encompassing radio, electrical and mechanical expertise.
He has successfully deployed working solutions in a number of high-profile projects over the years by understanding complex technical concepts alongside identifying innovation, opportunities, key risks and challenges - all within a wide range of environments.
Currently, Taz is working with innovative product introductions to identify standards compliance, deployment models and use cases to challenge traditional implementation practices - resulting in modernising and levelling-up economical, sustainable and ecological solutions within the telecommunications infrastructure market.
